Bowness Photo

David Stephenson's transcendence.
There was a range of his photos were captured the horizon at dusk, but he only had about 10% of the photo of Earth the rest of the photo was of the night sky, looking at the photos gave you the impression of being small.
there were also photos of the roofs of  different chapels all oft the unique, but they all gave you the impression of being great and grand.

Studio latitude - Melissa Voderberg

Melissa Voderberg came to our class to talk to her about her experiences as a graphic designer and a business owner.

She wonted to make some Australian momentous for  tourist to buy and take home with them, she said that alot of the touristy novelty items were mostly not Australian made of had much to do with Australia.
She came up with a fan idea that was designed off an Australian flower, this fan took off and she was asked to create more designs for these fans.

Melissa also encouraged us to use these exhibitions if we ever go into the field of creating products and wonting to find clients, she told us that most retail places only by new products from these places and if you go to the clients out side of these you wouldn't really have a chance to sell yourself.

She also talked about how the financial downturn affected her business, example she signed a contract to take back any stock and pay back for the sales if the product doesnt sell, this happnd and she was put in finacial place because of t.

i enjoyed the info Melissa had to bring us.

Star Voyager - George Melies film " A Trip to the Moon' (1902)

1.George Melies film " A Trip to the Moon' (1902) can be thought as a science fiction movie due to the depicting of things and creatures that don't exist, by this descriptions though could mean fantasy. the difference between this and a fantasy is that it is depicting something that possibly could happen(in the eye of the people viewing it in its time period), back when this was made 1902 rockets didn't exist but cannons did, so they used that logic to make a was to get to the moon. we all know now that that wouldn't work now, but back then it was plausible to believe it.

The movie becomes a drama as soon as the fight happens as the movie is then not depicting potential science, but rather keeping the audience entertained.

lang's Women in the mood (1929) shown a more realistic depiction on space travel because they had shown G force push against the body while accelerating, also they were using rockets to get to the moon, we still use them today for space travel.

The layout of the exhibition in some parts reminded me of some form of the inside of a space ship.

i would of possibly of made that theme they had going on making one of the corridors look like a space shit throughout the whole exhibition. The only advertisements i saw for this exhibition where out on the street on the was to the exhibition, i would of been a better idea to of advertised this exhibition more externally, radio, tv ect.

also seeing the suit from one of my favourite movies was pretty cool, the movie was Sunshine (golden suit at the back of the exhibition)

Monash Graduand Art and Design Exhibition

The honers industrial design work that was displayed was amazing, the detail that was in there mock ups was crazy, i really don't know how they done that.

i enjoyed the vis com art work, most of it was every well done, it gave me a perspective of the kind of designs im gonna be competing with.

arcatexture was crazy the maths that was need to scale the models done would give me a headache just looking at it. it really puts a perspective on the to scale work we have been doing for Gino.

Now to the art... i didn't find it very wonderful, i liked the traditional art that was there like a couple of the realistic paintings, but art that was cds taped to a boat? a video of a man standing infront of a screen while a  scratching noise acoured, or even a naked woman rubbing paint over herself.... i didn't conceder that to be art at all.

my favourite part of the monash exhibition would have to be the vis com, because i could relate and could see some a message being portrayed within there work.

Yael Bartana

Imagine you are asked by a travel agency to design a pamphlet promoting a tour of the Jewish Quarter in Krakow, Poland.

1.    How would the information you have seen at ACCA today give you some insight into the culture and history of this region? Write down what you understood of the content of the videos and what was said by the education officer.

Yarl Bartana's Story is about a fictitious movement, aiming to make Poland the largest community of Jewish people. The way Yarl Bartana goes about it is the same way Hitler went about his regime.

2.     Look at:
Galicia Jewish Museum, Oscar Schindler's Factory. Kazimierz (Jewish Quarter in
:  Krakow)
Podgorze (Jewish Ghetto). Jewish Festival (Krakow)

List websites you looked at

http://www.en.galiciajewishmuseum.org/
http://www.cracow-life.com/poland/krakow-ghetto
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Culture_Festival_in_Krak%C3%B3w
http://www.jewishkrakow.net/en/see/oscar-schindlers-factory/

3.     What other sources (list 6) can you provide for your research for your tour pamphlet.
http://www.krakow-info.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galicia_Jewish_Museum
http://www.cracow-life.com
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krak%C3%B3w_Ghetto
http://www.krakow-tours.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oskar_Schindler

4.      How does watching Yael Bartana videos in the context of the gallery differ from watching TV?

Yael Bartana videos are designed to inform and give you a thought to this could or even should happen, with the gallery you had a scene that you were there. if you were to watch this at home you would have to put up with add breaks and you could lose the sence of what is happening in this deep plot.

5.     Why do you think this work is considered to be art?

I think this is art because Yael Bartana has created a alternate universe within a form of a film, Yael hasnt just created a story, she a created an opinion expressed by film.

6.     Yael Bartana as a video artist uses the medium to look at and create a dialogue about a political theme. Can you locate an example of a piece of graphic design from the past of present that makes a strong political statement? Can you explain why the design is strong?

The Uncle sam wonts you poster was used to recruit soldiers during the war in 1812 in america, sam was designed to look patriotic and so he is wearing cloths that reflect the american flag.

7.    How do you respond to the artwork you've seen today?

The videos shown have given me a new perspective on the events that happened during ww2, that art if applied well can give incite into a topic that is touchy to talk about in a public audience

The Human Animal Review

The Human Animal demonstrated that the human mind is very creative, even in dull people. We all make graphical subconscious decisions in day to day life. No Animal known makes decisions due to subconscious creative needs. This subconscious decision making is know as creativity, with humans creativity we have achieved many things; art, buildings, gardens. Though some small achievements it shows we as a race are different to any other animal on the planet.

The section about the children drawing was interesting, the children scribble and it slowly transforms into a shape of a human. The fact the it doesn't matter where the children lives, the drawings will always in the end reflect the same image, a person. even the youngest of minds can be creative.
